Windows 10 is here and many systems can now download it for upgrade!

For the most part many of our upgrades have been completed smoothly. However; here are a few things Analytics has learned so far through trial and error on the upgrade to Windows 10 while working on a couple client computers:

First, ensure no USB Flash Drive or Hard Drives are connected when you are performing the upgrade. This will cause it to error out during the install. This error is likely due to Microsoft getting confused as to which HDD to connect with.

Second, Analytics performed a Microsoft 10 upgrade on a client’s laptop in our office, only to have the internet on it not work. After researching the issue online, we came across a couple of forums where it states to uninstall any VPN client that was installed on it prior to upgrading, such as a Cisco VPN Client or SonicWALL VPN client. We reverted the laptop back to Windows 8.1, uninstalled the SonicWALL VPN Client, and are now in the process of upgrading the laptop again to verify if this is true or not.

Third, there is a way to revert Windows 10 back to the previous OS:
Go to: Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery
It will be the second option, which will read ‘Go back to Windows *’.

Fourth, after the upgrade to Windows 10 is complete, Windows does not seem to notice that the computer already has the files on OneDrive. It requests that you synchronize them all over again which will cause issues with our clients regarding duplications and not synchronizing, etc.

Fifth, if you run an after market encryption program (e.g. True Crypt) you are going to have to decrypt the drive before doing the upgrade or it has problems on its first reboot of many during the upgrade process.

Finally, there are minor graphic and driver compatibility errors that Analytics is still reviewing and working on how to fix and avoid letting these errors occur.

Analytics will continue to update our customers about all the new changes with the Windows 10 upgrade.
